For the majority of New Englanders summertime is one of the most exciting seasons of the year. Why you ask? Because we actually get to leave our homes without shoveling and wearing ten layers of clothing, oh and don’t forget having to heat up your car thirty minutes before you actually leave the house. Summertime is fun! It’s a happy, carefree season, and the best season to have a wedding!
Get your tan on!
Being a bronzed goddess without eventually getting skin cancer is pretty hard to imagine. But, one of the latest, most convenient trends, is fake tanning (not in the booth), but by using a fake tanner! With such a large demand, there has been many great products released that honestly make you look like you just got back from vacation! Rather than spray tanning, you can actually just do this yourself and customize the color you want.
Some great self-tanners out there right now:
Loving Tan, St Tropez, L’Oréal Sublime Tan, Tarte Braziliance Self Tanner, Josie Maran, and many more!
Some great alternatives that can also be used in conjunction with self-tanners are bronzing/illuminating body lotions. Unlike self-tanners this washes off, it’s like makeup for your body! But, only comes off with soup and water.
My personal favorite- Miracle SkinTM Transformer, and an equivalent drugstore version- Sally Hanson Airbrush Legs (this can actually be used everywhere else, besides just your legs!)
Also, try buying a liquid illuminizer and just adding it to your favorite body lotion!
Facial Mist!
A setting spray for your makeup is key on your wedding day. A good facial mist prevents the signs of aging, by decreasing the amount of creasing that happens with foundation or concealer, especially in summertime! It is a great way to refresh yourself.
If you want to make your dewy skin pop in just the right spots, try spraying your face with mist prior to adding your highlighter of choice!
Some facial sprays can also be used as a primer/toner prior to your makeup, and can be used as a good subtle touch of hydration for your hair as well.
Some great facial mists: My personal favorite- Mario Badescu facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater, then NYX Matte and Dewy facial sprays, Fresh rose floral toner, Mac Prep and Prime Fix plus mist, Urban Decay chill setting spray, and many more!
Balayage for brunettes and lowlights for blondes!
I know sounds cliché, it’s the most popular hair technique right now, but! It is a perfect subtle change for a bride. If you are a brunette, try adding in some dimensions to your hair color by using the Balayage technique! If you are planning on doing an updo or curls the dimensions will really pop.
If you are a blonde try adding some low lights for some subtle dimension as well! The contrast between the colors are just beautiful for curls and updos!
WARNING for Brides! please, please, PLEASE…Go to a salon- Do not attempt this yourself!
